Bear Much Fruit
By Charlotte S. Goodrum
I once thought bearing much
fruit meant to bring others to Christ.
However, saving people is not my job.
I can plant seeds which is my job.
I plant seeds when I bear the fruit of the Spirit. This is the fruit Jesus is referring to.
I must love people like there
is no tomorrow. I must express my joy in
Christ even in my unhappiest moments. I
must allow God’s peace to permeate from every pore in my body. I must be peaceful even when the people
around me are raging. I must be as patient
as God is with me with every soul I encounter.
I must show kindness to everyone including those who hurt me and my
family. I must strive for perfection to
be more like Christ. I must be faithful
to my God by trusting Him with every moment of my life. I must be faithful to my fellow human beings
by not hesitating to tell them about God’s soul saving gift. I must be gentle with every single person
because I certainly want them to be gentle with me. And, I must restrain myself and maintain
self-control in any and all situations.
Bearing much fruit may look
like a monumental task. It is if we try
to do it alone. However, if we remain
attached to the Vine we will succeed. We
will learn to bear much fruit.
John 15:5 (NKJV)
5 “I am
the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears
much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
